NANDINA DOMESTICA NANA: common name DWARF NANDINA
Nandina Domestica Nana is a dwarf variety of the Japanese Sacred Bamboo, unlike other bamboo’s Dwarf Nandina is not invasive or destructive as the larger rouge varieties are. Being a dwarf variety, Nandina Domestica Nana grows to approximately 30cm tall and 30cm wide.
It’s foliage changes color from reds (new growth) to a lighter green when the foliage matures. Cooler weathers in winter turn the leaves to deep reds and Burgundies, warmer weather to yellows, oranges and greens.
Ideal for bordering either clipped as a formal hedge or left natural as an informal hedge. Dwarf Nandina makes for a wonderful color statement in any garden whether in planter boxes or high lighting other plants such as Specimen Trees or darker foliage planting. Very hardy, this hedge requires low maintenance, is frost resistant, drought tolerant and can be used in coastal planting.
